GARDEN CITY IN TOMSK
Abstract
The paper considers the little-known history of the urban development of Tomsk-city early in the 20th century when the garden city was found. Its construction coincided with the period of global social and economic changes in Russia. The comparison of historical facts with the urban development plans of Tomsk in the late 19th- 20th centuries determines the portion of the planning area nearby the railway station Tomsk-II as an implemented Garden City Project for its workers. For the first time, research results of the railway complex in Tomsk are presented herein as well as the importance of this urban planning not only for Tomsk, but also for the Trans-Siberian Railway as the integral part of its history.
