Decorative Elements on Facades in the 1940-60s in Tomsk

Abstract

The article considers facade decoration of residential houses in Tomsk during the Soviet period. The remained decorative elements on facades of houses that were built by the special project are described herein. It is shown that the simplified elements of the order system of classicism and the national symbolism of the USSR period were often used. All these elements have the individual history and contain certain information. The architectural decoration of the considered historical period has specific features. The author's classification is suggested in this paper. It is shown that tendencies of the decoration application to houses were identical in the territory of the whole country.
