Abstract

This work focuses on the stress-strain state of the soil foundation slab and on the lateral surface of walls of a multi-level underground car parking using linear and nonlinear soil behavior models.

Purpose: The aim of the work is to analyze the stress-strain state of the soil foundation slab in a linearly/non-linearly deformable medium and on the lateral surface of walls of a multi-level underground car parking.

Methodology: The stress-strain state of the soil foundation is obtained by its modelling in the developed calculation model as a layered foundation in the foundation–base–building system using the finite element modeling in the Ing+ MicroFe software package.

Research findings: It is found that with linear deformation of the soil foundation, vertical displacements and relative difference in vertical displacements of soil in the slab foundation do not exceed the limit values. At the load level of the soil foundation slab, when the average value of the bearing reaction under the base is 17 % less than theoretically calculated soil resistance of the underlying layer, the foundation work also satisfies conditions of the second-order limit states in accordance with the Mohr-Coulomb model.
