Abstract
The relevance of the study is due to the growing popularity of tourism in Russia and the government interest in creating facilities for the quality recreation in the country.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify the architecture of modern tourist centers based on the Russian and foreign experience in design and construction of recreation facilities.
Research findings: The main features characterizing the structure of a modern tourist center are identified together with its functions and spatial planning solution, trends in location and exterior decoration. The special urban planning role of tourist centers and the influence of recreation facilities on various types of tourism in the region are highlighted.
