Contribution of Tyumen Merchants to The Formation of Church Architecture in Tyumen

Abstract

The paper is devoted to the church architecture of Tyumen-city built with the support of local merchants who played an important role in the formation of the architectural appearance of Siberian cities. The church architecture initiated by Tyumen merchants is described. The paper presents the overview of the most meaningful objects of the church architecture of Tyumen in the 18th-20th centuries. Architectural, planning and styling characteristics of buildings are given, the current urban planning situation is analyzed. The paper contains historical and modern illustrations of Tyumen churches.
