Это требует формирования расширенной типологии городских улиц, базирующейся на изучении эволюции уличного пространства в зависимости от изменения градостроительных условий.Цель работы заключается в выявлении основных этапов трансформации подходов к проектированию городских улиц и осмыслении их назначения во взаимосвязи с развитием и ростом городов.Материалы и методы. Исследование базируется на изучении, анализе и систематизации широкого круга литературных источников, содержащих научные разработки отечественных и зарубежных авторов по проблемам формирования уличного пространства и типологии улиц.Результаты. Изучение трансформации понятия городской улицы показало изменение подхода к проектированию уличного пространства от наращивания транзитной функции до комплексного учета интересов всех участников движения и увеличению многофункционального наполнения уличного пространства.Выводы. Применение принципов создания комфортной городской среды, учет местных условий, многообразия планировочной структуры и неоднородности территории, а также различия в интенсивности и характере движения на разных участках улично-дорожной сети определяют необходимость разработки расширенной типологии улиц по сравнению с традиционными градостроительными категориями и формирования соответствующей методической основы для проектирования.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Purpose: The aim is to identify the main stages of transformation of approaches to the city street design and understand the significance of the street and road network in urban development.Methodology: The analysis and systematization of the literature on research developments by Russian and foreign researchers in the field.Research findings: It is shown that the approach to the street space design changes from increasing the transit function to taking into account events for all users of street space and increasing its functional content.Value: The application of principles of creating a comfortable urban environment, with respect to local conditions, planning structure diversity, territory heterogeneity, different traffic intensity, determines the need to develop a methodological basis for design of various sections and more expanded street typology compared to urban planning categories.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>комфортная городская среда</kwd><kwd>проектирование улично-дорожной сети</kwd><kwd>система общественных пространств</kwd><kwd>типология улиц</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>comfortable urban environment</kwd><kwd>street and road network</kwd><kwd>public space</kwd><kwd>street typology</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Lefebvre H.
